Registered Charity No. 1078140
The Thomas Ball Children's Cancer Fund was founded in 1999 when Thomas Ball was just nine years old and undergoing treatment for Neuroblastoma stage 4 (cancer of the sympathetic nervous system) which had been diagnosed some
twenty months earlier.
Although Thomas suffered immensely over a six year period, he lived life to the full and spearheaded the charity with his
fund-raising ideas. He died in 2003 aged just fourteen years old.
The trustees are currently fund-raising to benefit United Kingdom children and teenagers who are diagnosed with cancer by :-
i) Funding two holiday homes on the Hampshire coast for sick children to take respite breaks with their families.
ii) Operating numerous trips for sick children and their families to the Disneyland Paris resort.
iii) Organising days out and special treats for sick children and their families.
iv) Promoting awareness of childhood cancer.
v) Helping affected families at the most traumatic time in their lives.
vi) Funding childhood cancer research.
vii) Linking with other organisations to provide a wider range of support including bereavement.
viii) Funding improvements to children's oncology wards.
The Jolly Woodman raised funds for the charity through raffles, quiz nights and other events.
On Friday 20th. January 2012 The Thomas Ball Children's Cancer Fund was presented with a cheque for £841-15 and a customer added a donation to make our total collection up to £1,010.
